Babcock Power To Supply Emission Controls For North Dakota Coal-Fired Power Plant

Danvers, MA – Babcock Power Environmental Inc. (BPEI), located in Worcester, MA, a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc., based in Danvers, MA, announced recently that it has recently been awarded a contract for the design and supply of two Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization Systems (WFGD) from Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC). The two WFGD Systems will be installed at Basin Electric's 660 megawatt (MW), lignite coal-based power plant Leland Olds Station, near Stanton, ND.

The Contract includes the design and supply of two WFGDs complete with; absorber island, limestone preparation, and gypsum dewatering systems to be integrated into the existing power plant. Limestone for the scrubbers will be supplied by Montana Limestone, a subsidiary of Dakota Coal Company, which is a subsidiary of Basin Electric. The contract has an approximate value of $70 million and is scheduled for completion in 2010.
