ABB sells switch business

ABB Power T&D Company Inc. (Raleigh, NC) intends to sell its U.S. air disconnect switch business to Pacific Air Switch Corporation (Forest Grove, OR). No other details are available as the two companies are still in negotiations.

The switches are manufactured at the ABB facility in Bland, Va. Rodney M. Crockett, general manager of PASCOR, said that PASCOR plans to continue to utilize the production facility and employees at Bland to serve existing ABB customers. Other ABB operations in Bland are not part of the deal.

"This acquisition will allow us to combine complementary product lines while establishing regional manufacturing presence within the geographically dispersed electrical utility marketplace." Crockett said.

The transaction is expected to be completed in October 2000.
