HellermannTyton has acquired RW Data, a manufacturer of structured cabling systems for voice and data.

The RW Data acquisition provides HellermannTyton with additional product development and manufacturing resources for the company's structured cabling products. The voice/data products will continue to be marketed and sold under the HellermannTyton name.

RW Data, based in Northampton, UK, manufactures systems that comply with all global structured cabling standards. The Gigaband line of products developed by RW Data offers double the bandwidth of the proposed Category 6 standard (TIA/EIA-568b.2-1, draft 7). The system is tested to perform with positive Power Sum ACR up to 400 MHz.

"This acquisition provides HellermannTyton with tremendous opportunities," said Steve Salmon, group president network products (encompassing all of HellermannTyton's 26 global sister companies). "RW Data provides an excellent complement to our extensive product portfolio and accelerates our participation in the high growth communication market."

"Our goal is to produce products which are manufactured to consistently high standards and designed to suit the country in which they will be used," said Dick Weatherly, managing director of RW Data. "Joining the HellermannTyton team has given us the opportunity and resources to continue to develop on the international stage."
