Composite Technology And General Cable Introduce TransPowr(tm) ACCC/TW Bare Overhead Conductor

New Technology Provides up to Twice the Capacity

Irvine, CA, January 26, 2005 - Composite Technology Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: CPTC), a leading developer of high-performance composite core cables for electric transmission and distribution cables, through it's subsidiary CTC Cable Corporation (CTC), and General Cable Industries, Inc., the principal US operating subsidiary of General Cable Corporation (General Cable) (NYSE: BGC), a recognized leader in the utility cable market, announced the introduction of the TransPowr(tm) ACCC/TW bare overhead conductor at the 2005 General Cable National Sales Conference.

The TransPowr ACCC/TW bare overhead conductor integrates General Cable's ACSS/TW technology and CTC Cable Corporation's carbon and glass fiber core technology. These two technologies have been combined to create a transmission and distribution conductor that is vastly superior to all existing bare overhead conductors in a number of key performance areas - greater capacity, sag reduction, and lower electrical line losses. These performance advantages quickly and cost-effectively increase the capacity and reliability of existing transmission and distribution corridors.

"General Cable has earned an established industry-leading reputation with a commitment to advancements in cable technology through extensive research and development programs. This conductor technology represents yet another new technology for the transmission of electricity," said J. Michael Andrews, Senior Vice President and General Manager of General Cable, Energy Cables. "The TransPowr ACCC/TW product family will offer our customers cost-effective solutions to increase their capacity and reliability while reducing power generation and transmission costs."

The new conductor, which represents one of the most significant technology advancements in the industry in decades, will be a vital component of CTC's and General Cable's joint sales and marketing campaign for 2005.

"The TransPowr ACCC/TW allows utilities to proactively address the problems of congestion which plague this global industry while offering significant benefits to electric utility companies and ultimately to their industrial, commercial and residential consumers," said Benton Wilcoxon, CTC Chairman and CEO. "The formal launching of this new cable product is a major milestone in our joint marketing and distribution initiative with General Cable and will significantly expand the distribution of our ACCC cable in Canada and the USA."

General Cable and CTC entered into Manufacturing and Distribution agreements to capitalize on their respective strengths and bring to market superior transmission and distribution products for both the utilities and their consumers. Both General Cable and CTC are committed to providing the best quality and technologically advanced products to the utility industry.

About CTC
Composite Technology Corporation, through its subsidiary CTC Cable Corporation, located in Irvine, California, produces high performance advanced composite core conductor cables for electric transmission and distribution lines. The proprietary new ACCC cable can transmit two times more power than comparably sized conventional cables in use today. ACCC can solve high-temperature line sag problems, can effect energy savings through less line losses, has reduced corona and electromagnetic fields, and can easily be retrofitted on existing towers to upgrade energy throughput in a grid system. ACCC cables allow transmission owners, utility companies, and power producers to easily replace transmission lines without modification to the towers using standard installation techniques and equipment, thereby avoiding the deployment of new towers and establishment of new rights-of-way that are costly, time consuming, controversial and may impact the environment. CTC has established strategic relationships with existing cable manufacturers to expand production and facilitate deployment to end users worldwide. See: www.compositetechcorp.com.
