The Brewer-Garrett Company, of Cleveland, Ohio, was awarded a Department of Energy (DOE) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC). Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) - On Thursday, April 27, 2017, The Brewer-Garrett Company was awarded a Department of Energy (DOE) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC). These uniquely structured contracts allow Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) to carry out privately financed energy and water infrastructure improvements to government facilities without requiring additional federal tax dollars.

Brewer-Garrett, an Ohio-based company, is one of only 21 ESCOs that can implement these infrastructure upgrades under federal government task orders for a period of five years with an optional 18-month extension. Task orders under this contract allow Brewer-Garrett to perform energy conservation measures (ECMs) such as lighting, water, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), controls, renewables, as well as microgrids across the United States.

“I am extremely proud of this accomplishment and of all the hard work that led to this landmark event in our company’s 58-year history,” said Louis Joseph, President and CEO of Brewer-Garrett. “Once again, we are poised for unprecedented growth by now extending our vision to deliver the highest quality services to the federal market. We are steadfast in our commitment to improve infrastructure, create jobs, and impact our world through energy conservation and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.”

According to the Federal Energy Management Program’s (FEMP) website, US Government agencies have been awarding ESPCs at an investment pace of about $2 billion every three years. One factor for the increased use of these contracts is that private sector partners like Brewer-Garrett must guarantee that the infrastructure improvements will generate sufficient annual energy savings to pay for the upgrades over the life of the project.
