INNIO Receives Additional Large Order From VoltaGrid: 1.5 GW Indoor Power Generation Project Launched
Jambach and Houston, TX, Austria (BUSINESS WIRE) - INNIO Group today announced a large order for 1.5 gigawatts from VoltaGrid, further deepening the partnership between the two companies in indoor (on-site) power generation for AI and high-performance computing infrastructure.
Under the agreement, INNIO is expected to supply a total of 300 Jenbacher J624 and J620 series gas turbines. The J624 series turbines will be integrated into VoltaGrid's proprietary QPac™ platform. These turbines will be packaged into standard 25 MW units, enabling rapid and scalable deployment to meet the needs of data center customers across the United States. Product delivery is scheduled to be completed by 2028.
Dr. Olaf Berlien, President and CEO of INNIO Group, said: “This landmark order demonstrates the strength of INNIO’s technology and our commitment to providing energy support for the development of AI. We are honored to deepen our cooperation with VoltaGrid to jointly drive the innovative upgrade of energy infrastructure.”
VoltaGrid CEO Nathan Ough stated, "This is a significant step forward in building an energy backbone for the AI era. Our partnership with INNIO to launch a scalable, grid-scale solution that is fast-responding and battery-free will provide the speed, reliability, and sustainability needed to power next-generation data centers."
Developed jointly by INNIO and VoltaGrid, this solution is designed to support efficient data center deployments and graphics processing units (GPUs) to meet the demands of AI-driven workloads. This integrated platform utilizes INNIO's Jenbacher technology, enabling primary, backup, and peak power supply within a single system , providing exceptional operational flexibility. Even under high ambient temperatures, the system maintains full-power efficiency while exhibiting excellent transient response performance, easily handling the highly volatile load variations typical of AI computing environments.
This collaboration enabled the integration of VoltaGrid's power supply units with a large-scale portable data center power supply system powered by INNIO technology .
