In a relatively short time, this company has shipped 100,000 tools for testing communications facilities.

Microtest, Inc. (Phoenix, AZ) shipped its 100,000th LAN cable tester. The company started the in-premise network cable testing industry in 1988 when it developed CABLE SCANNER. In 1990, Microtest produced the PairScanner, the first tool for testing unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling, and in 1995 Microtest shipped the PentaScanner – the first Category 5 cable certification tool. Since then, the company has continued to produce advanced technology cable testers.

Today, the 5th generation cable tester, OMNIScanner2 will test Categories 5, 5e, 6 and 7 network cabling. The OMNIScanner2 incorporates patent pending diagnostic capabilities necessary for troubleshooting today's high-bandwidth networks and delivers precise field-level accuracy within a handheld device. Microtest has developed the OMNIScanner2, with expanded storage management for test results, fast and easy download capability, and Scanlink companion software for reporting and control.

Microtest works with cable and connector vendors on test link adapters including
