National Electrical Contractors Association Joins United For Infrastructure 2021

From May 10–14, 2021, infrastructure advocates call for bipartisan leadership to make better policies and investments.

Today, the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) announced it is joining the national effort to raise awareness about the need for investment in the nation’s infrastructure. On Monday May 10, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, AFL-CIO, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and other national and local business, labor and policy organizations will kick off a week-long education and advocacy event series, United for Infrastructure 2021. Hundreds of national and local groups will host events and raise awareness about the need to invest in transportation, water, communications and energy infrastructure, all around the theme “Lead with Infrastructure.”

Now in its ninth year, United for Infrastructure brings diverse stakeholders together to seek infrastructure reform by calling the nation’s leaders to bold action. The message of United for Infrastructure is that leaders need to deliver on policies and investments that jumpstart the economy and keep American families and workers safe whether on the road, flying in a plane or drinking water from the tap. The week-long event advocates for infrastructure policy and federal investment to support public health and safety and bring about resilient and equitable communities.

The electrical construction industry will be at the forefront of this infrastructure revitalization, and NECA is working with the Biden Administration and Congress to enact a sweeping infrastructure plan that will rebuild and invest in the future of electric vehicles, modernize our nation’s electrical grid, expand broadband networks, and better our roads, bridges, waterways, existing buildings, as well as our clean water and wastewater infrastructure. We will also work to ensure that the needs and best interests of NECA contractors are represented throughout this process.

“Infrastructure is not an issue either party owns; we as Americans own this issue,” said NECA CEO David Long. “We are excited to once again join United for Infrastructure, and be part of the bipartisan call to invest in our infrastructure, which will create large numbers of jobs and boost the American economy.”

Advocates joining United for Infrastructure say there needs to be bipartisan leadership focused on the transportation, water, communications and energy infrastructure priorities for the future of the nation's families, workers and businesses. Infrastructure investment must support all people for a prosperous economy and a better quality of life.

Joined by hundreds of affiliates nationwide, United for Infrastructure 2021 takes place from May 10–14, led by U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Business Roundtable, ASCE, AFL-CIO, Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings, Value of Water Campaign, Building America’s Future and National Association of Manufacturers.
