NECA Hosts Low-Voltage And Service & Maintenance Focused Conferences In Denver

Another year of the NECA-BISCI Summit came to a successful close on June 28th after three days full of presentations and education organized by these two industry-leading associations. With technology always evolving the construction business and how buildings are electrified, this low-voltage event provided great insight into current techniques.

NECA’s Executive Director of Network Integration and Services Jeff Beavers reflected on the summit saying, “We were fortunate to have a panel of industry leaders to discuss sustainability and reliability, new technologies like Power over Ethernet (PoE), Fault Managed Power and DC microgrids.” Beavers continued his thoughts on the Summit panel, “Sharing experiences from deploying these new technologies, thoughts on future applications and providing insight to the status of the workforce was a huge take-away from this meeting.”

As executive members from both NECA and BICSI strive to deliver a valuable experience through this joint-meeting, they know society is driving the adoption of these technologies and will look to associations as subject matter experts to incorporate low-voltage technologies solutions as part of sustainability initiatives.

As the NECA-BICSI Summit concluded in Denver, NECA staff and members continued the learning and networking opportunities in the Mile High City at the first ever Service and Maintenance Conference. Wrapping up on June 29th, this two-day event allowed NECA contractors the chance to explore the benefits of starting service and maintenance departments at their businesses, or how to strengthen already successful operations.

The conference included numerous industry experts who were able to share tips for success and suggestions to avoid turmoil. Directing much of the Service and Maintenance Conference, NECA Senior Vice President of Education, Events and Partnerships Pete Mastrorocco said, “This event was an unparalleled opportunity for NECA members to enhance their knowledge and skills in the service and maintenance sector. The conference featured insightful keynotes, engaging panel discussions, and a remarkable level of peer-to-peer collaboration, enabling attendees to gain valuable insights into optimizing their profit margins and performance by structuring their divisions effectively.”

This event was aimed to inform every level of professional in the electrical service and maintenance field with sessions on multiple facets of the industry. “The event also shed light on important topics such as service contracts, legal best practices, the distinction between recurring and reoccurring revenue, and the transformative potential of incorporating technology into Service & Maintenance businesses,” said Mastrorocco. From operational implementation to growth strategy and best business practices, attendees were able to leave this inaugural Service and Maintenance conference with proven strategies for their companies.

“Being a service manager, I’m always looking for ways to improve my processes, ways to improve how we communicate with our guys, how we communicate with our customers,” said conference attendee Tyler Reed from Quality Electric. “It’s nice to come together collectively with other people doing the same thing I’m doing. There’s lots of successful contractors here so it’s great to get the opportunity to be able to meet with them.” In addition to educational sessions and presentations, peer-to-peer networking has always been a huge takeaway from NECA events. It is our goal to empower our members and their businesses with resources that can increase prosperous outcomes.
