Square D Expands Network Connectivity Of Altivar® 58 Drives-Ethernet and LONWORKS communications simplified

Connecting drives to Ethernet and LONWORKS networks has been simplified with the introduction of two new communications devices for Square D ALTIVAR 58 adjustable speed drives. Part of an extensive family of versatile motor control products for industrial and commercial applications, the new products extend the communications capabilities of the ALTIVAR 58 drive, already considered the world's most connectable drive.

New Ethernet Communications Card
A new Web-enabled Ethernet MODBUS® TCP/IP Communication Card makes it easy to configure and remotely monitor an ALTIVAR 58 drive using the World Wide Web. These remote monitoring capabilities make it easier to monitor equipment operations and prevent breakdowns. Based on Schneider Electric's pioneering TRANSPARENT FACTORY® architecture, which takes advantage of readily available Internet technologies, the communications card provides a fast network link between the drive and a PC, eliminating the need for a programmable logic controller.

Easily installed, the Ethernet card features embedded web pages for monitoring information from the drive. Configuration is simple, as are cyclic variable identification and message block configuration.

LONWORKS Communications Capabilities
To enable ALTIVAR 58 drives to communicate with LONWORKS, one of the most widely used networks for building automation and HVAC applications, Square D has introduced a LONWORKS Gateway module.

The DIN rail mounted Gateway module is simple to install and requires no programming. The module connects to the MODBUS port in the ALTIVAR 58 by cable. With the LONWORKS Gateway, ALTIVAR drives can easily be integrated into new or existing building automation systems, allowing customers to efficiently upgrade motor control systems.
