Superior Telecom appoints new head of electrical wire business
"We appreciate Bill Evans' leadership in repositioning the Electrical Products business for improvement in future profitability," stated Steven S. Elbaum, Superior's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Bill managed the Electrical Products unit through a critical period in which we restructured its operations, including consolidation of manufacturing and distribution facilities, paring of product lines and sharpening its focus on working capital management and customer service. With his leadership and customer focus, Superior enhanced its long-term franchise in the electrical wire market. Bill will be continuing on with Superior during a transitional period."
"I am pleased to welcome Harold Karp as President of the Electrical Products business," stated Stephen C. Knup, Superior's President and Chief Operating Officer. "Harold brings 18 years of operational experience in the wire and cable industry. He joined Superior in 1995 at the time of its acquisition of the North American copper cable business from Alcatel and most recently was Senior Vice President of Manufacturing for the SUPERIOR ESSEX Communications Group. Harold's background as a seasoned operations manager will help us to gain further manufacturing efficiencies and cost advantages, both of which are critical to success in delivering value to customers and profitable performance and returns on investment to shareholders. We are confident that our Electrical business is positioned to take advantage of completed restructuring and consolidation actions that should result in performance improvements this year."
