Terrestrial Energy Signs Agreement With Hatch For IMSR Power Plant Engineering And Construction Services

Hatch and Terrestrial Energy have signed an engineering services contract to support deployment of the Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR), a Generation IV nuclear power plant. The scope of the agreement includes support for engineering, component procurement, project and construction management, and power plant cost estimation relating to the development and construction of an IMSR power plant. Services will be provided by a team of Hatch engineers based in Ontario.

Hatch is a global employee-owned engineering, project management, and professional services firm with headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario. Its engineering expertise covers a comprehensive range of technical and strategic project services, including project definition, architecture, engineering, digital solutions, procurement, project and construction management, and commissioning. Hatch recognizes that Small Modular Reactors (SMR) have an important role to play in a clean energy transition.

“Terrestrial Energy’s IMSR, a Generation IV SMR, has the potential to displace carbon-intensive energy sources and play an important role in Canada’s clean energy transition,” said Amar Jolly, Global Director, Nuclear Power at Hatch. “Hatch is committed to supporting Terrestrial Energy and IMSR development with expert engineering services as the project moves forward to first deployment.”

“Ontario is home to world class nuclear engineering and project management firms. That expertise is important to Terrestrial Energy as we progress to detailed pre-construction engineering and project planning for IMSR deployment,” said Simon Irish, CEO of Terrestrial Energy. “Hatch has supported industrial innovation for 65 years, and we are pleased to be advancing IMSR development with Hatch as a key project team member.”
