UIL business unit continues expansion

XCELECOM purchases Specialty Electrical Contracting Company — JBL Electric, Inc.

XCELECOM, Inc. (formerly Precision Power, Inc.; Hamden, CT), a non-regulated business unit of UIL Holdings Corporation has acquired JBL Electric Inc. — an electrical contracting company specializing in cellular, satellite dish and traffic signal construction, based in Paterson, NJ.

JBL Electric will operate under the Allan Electric umbrella — a full-service electrical construction company located in Totowa, New Jersey with annual revenues of $35 million, acquired by XCELECOM in July, 1999. This purchase also follows XCELECOM'S recent purchases of

  • Orlando Diefenderfer (July 2000) — an electrical construction services firm in Allentown, PA with annual revenues of $48 million
  • The DataStore (May 2000) — a systems integrator in Maple Shade, NJ with $25 million of annual revenues.
JBL Electric provides specialty telecommunications, cellular, satellite, and traffic signal construction services to leading companies in the Tri-State area. Services include
  • installation and maintenance of cellular towers
  • stationary satellite dishes
  • high voltage systems
  • highway traffic signal systems.
The company, which currently maintains its regional office in Paterson, NJ, has been in business for more than 7 years.

Headquartered in Hamden, CT, XCELECOM provides tailored electrical construction and voice-data-video services to customers in New England and the neighboring Mid-Atlantic region.
